Rick,

Your comment about the debate over David's sin really reinforces the way we think...We are so caught up in what type of sin someone does instead of helping them overcome the struggle and recognizing that it doesnt matter what we have done cuz a sin is a sin and it hinders are relationship with God...We have to stop focusing on the failures and faults and leave it all behind and focus on pushing forward...

But thats not really about the chapter...But Since you did a good job of pointing things out, I figured I would talk about the debate.

There is a lot of debate in the commentaries over what David's sin was. The only thing that is certain is that it was sin, and that David and God knew it, and God is just. Out of this, I learned:

1) David is so amazing as a leader. He tells God not to punish his people because they are just the sheep and he is the shepherd and for God to punish him and his family. SO often in ministry we make excuses and blame everyone but ourselves.

2) I love David's thought that he will not offer sacrifices that do not cost him anything. I know that when we are asked to fast, I pick the meal that is the easiest for me to give up. I should be picking the hardest meal, or the most difficult thing for me to give up, so that my sacrifice will be costly and show my dedication to God.
